My Current Top 10 Daily Make- Up essentials, I am in love!
I have been into a light, effortless makeup look lately. Even on a night out in the town, I still try to stick to a perfect base and maybe spruce it up with one of my new favourites, the Christian Dior "5 Couleurs Couture – Limited Edition" Eyeshadow Palette for a sexier evening vibe.
In this blog, I wanted to share with all of you beautiful people out there some of my absolute must-have's when it comes to makeup this spring summer of 2023.
For years I have searched for make- up that does not feel like a layer of clay on my face. My inspiration has been the more demure looks that I see either on the runways or on a stranger walking by me that look so bright and radiant even though I know they are wearing makeup but in a very airy and classy way. In my makeup search that matches my needs, I have found a few that will be a staple in my makeup bag for years. Not only is it excellent makeup because of its quality, but it is also straightforward to apply, making my daily makeup routine a breeze and, most importantly, a fun process for me!
If you have yet to try my top makeup favourites, please go out there and test them out. Go to your closest beauty supplier that may carry these and ask them to apply some on you and give you some samples. Committing to makeup without knowing if you will like it is always hard. So, feel free to ask for testers; go home and try them out; this way, you don't spend on something you will not like in a few days. Most places will be happy to provide you with testers.
And now, I am so excited to finally share my daily makeup staples that I cannot live without and have just enhanced how I feel every day.
1. Hourglass – Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick
This is the best foundation I have used in a very long time. There are so many shades, so finding your perfect match is easy. A little bit goes a long way which I love! It glides smoothly and evenly on my skin and almost feels like a thin veil on my face that enhances my skin tone. This is a full coverage, extended, waterproof, 100% vegan stick, so no matter how long your day is, it looks just as perfect as when you initially applied it.
2. Anastasia Beverly Hills – Brow Wiz
This has been a staple in my makeup bag for years now. It's available in several shades and does not smudge. The ultra-fine tip makes it easy to create delicate and effortless hair strokes.
3. Too-Faced Fluff & Hold Laminating Brow Wax
This does exactly what the name says- it laminates the eyebrows to an insane level! I love this so much. I used to struggle with rebel eyebrow hairs, meaning I would suddenly glance at myself in a mirror to discover that I had been walking around with a messy brow. Thank goodness I found this product; now my eyebrows look as if they were professionally laminated daily, and all it takes is a simple brush stroke.
4. Benefit Gimme Brow + Gel
Guys, if I had to choose one of these 10 to have with me every day, it would be this! It is the most effortless application ever, and because it contains actual hair follicles, it makes my eyebrows look naturally fuller and healthier. It only takes me about 20 seconds to apply.
5. Diorshow Pump 'N' Volume - Black
This mascara is from the new Dior 2023 collection. The thick brush is one of my favourite brushes as it creates long, thick lashes full of volume in an easy 123 stroke. My favourite part of this mascara is that it is composed of 90% natural origin ingredients and enhances the eyes with XXL volume with an intense ink coating. This also comes in three shades black, blue and brown.
I have never been a huge blush girl. It has not been a part of my makeup routine over the years, and yet I had been hearing so much about the Dior Blush and how one-of-a-kind it is, and I had to give it a try! Well, now I am a loyal fan! It is very smooth and silky and is the perfect shade of pink for me. This is probably the only blush I will ever use as it does not feel too heavy upon application and adds an effortless finish to my routine. This also comes in 6 beautiful shades, pink, mahogany, coral, berry, rosewood and cherry.
7. Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand- Spotlight
I use this daily, even when I do not want to wear makeup. If I am not wearing makeup, I dab some on my face at different points and blend it and voila! That's all I need to feel amazing. With a full face of makeup, I feel complete once I finish it off with this. It creates the perfect glowy, dewy look that makes me feel radiant and healthy! No matter what my daily look and how much makeup or not I want to wear, it's a must before I go out. My shade is the candlelit gold liquid highlighter. This now comes in 7 shades, including blush shades which I also love.
8. Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil - Raspberry
Another daily go-to. I love this so much that I have 2 of the same shades. The pink shade is my everyday go-to. I always keep one at home in my makeup bag and another in my bag. It's so luscious and makes my lips feel hydrated and look extra pretty too, which is always a plus in my books! The Dior addict lip glow oil comes in 8 marvellous shades.
9. Dior- Rouge Dior- Cabaret Matte Finish
One of my staple lipstick colours is red. Red makes me feel so alive and glamorous. I am very particular with my shades of red. My personal preference is a shiny bright red or a matte deep red depending on the occasion and my mood. This Dior red lipstick is the perfect matte red shade. It's my number-one go-to for red matte lipstick. Its application is perfect every time and is long-lasting as well. The Rouge Dior has a shade and finish for everyone. Not only does it come in 9 shades, but you also have the option to choose from metallic, satin, velvet or matte finish. I LOVE THIS ONE!
This is another staple in my red lipstick collection. It's in my top 2, along with the Dior red lipstick. If you have been searching for the perfect red shade with an abundance of delicious hydration, look no further! You can never go wrong with Chanel's red hues; this one is the best! It glided on smoothly and has a lovely shine to it. It's been part of my collection for years and will continue to be for years to come since it's also re-fillable! OBSESSED!
Guys, I love makeup! There are so many more items I own as part of my collection that I love and would recommend and yet are not necessarily my daily essentials. What I have included in my top 10 in this blog are my everyday basics. I do not wear eyeshadow on a daily or bronzer, but if I had to quickly throw out some suggestions and recommendations regarding eyeshadow and bronzers, it would be Dior's new Riviera collection. If you have not checked their new collection yet, make sure you do! It's a limited edition; I promise you will not be disappointed!
IN LOVE WITH PRADA! Guys, I don’t know what it is, but lately, my obsession with Prada Spring/Summer shoes is on another level. There are not enough hours in the day to browse through all of the fantastic shoes that are available for this season, and what’s more, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to narrow down the list. They have so many options for everyone! I have been trying to work on a curated capsule wardrobe for myself for the warm months approaching, and have chosen to include a few Prada sandals, sneakers and mules as part of my everyday go-to when getting dressed. Prada shoes combine what I look for daily in comfortable shoes and always balance an effortlessly chic look that makes me feel so beautiful and put together. Pair any of these shoes with blue jean denim and a white button-down t-shirt or, my favourite, a v-neck white t-shirt, or with shorts, a dress etc. They can be paired with anything and will be the star of your outfit! A solid, well-thought shoe collection for any season is always vital for me, as I can always throw anything on, and I know that my shoes will usually elevate my outfit, just like a coat or handbag. We will get into that at another time. So, I decided to share a few of my current Prada spring-summer favourites below with you; I hope you guys also find one you love and can add to your new season looks! All of these shoes come in quite a variety of colours; I love all the colours but have chosen the ones I would most likely choose; nevertheless, I would rock all the colours for sure!
HOW THE "MM” GAVE ME AN INSTANT BOOST IN CONFIDENCE!
I never quite understood the importance of taking care of our faces daily. I was one of those teenagers that would be too tired or, let's face it, probably just too lazy to take my makeup off at the end of the night and would fall into bed with a full face on. As embarrassing as it is not to say it out loud, that continued through my twenties. Can anyone else relate to this?! Of course, all of the women in my life, starting with my mother, had a rigorous face regimen both morning and night since I was born, and due to this, they would try to encourage me to do the same and its importance. Now that I am in my mid-thirties (yes, lol, it did indeed take me a while to jump on the bandwagon!)
I started noticing some redness, dryness, and so many more changes to my face; even when applying foundation, it would not sit and set nicely. I decided to take the plunge and get my first skin/face consultation! Wow, did this change my perspective on a routine that includes daily moisturiser!
As soon as I sat down, my lovely consultant explained the importance of understanding our skin and individual needs, including the makeup brands we choose to use. I always thought my skin was oily, only to discover after years and years that it is dry! My first mistake in my daily makeup routine was not applying moisturiser before my makeup/ foundation, BIG BIG mistake! My consultant then explained that the "redness" I have had for years is from dehydration. My skin was thirsty and needed MOISTURISING! Now, I know that many of you out there are thinking," Really Nikita?! I could have told you that!" but for me, this was earth-shattering as I always knew that we all need moisturiser, and yet, the moment my consultant applied a thin layer of moisturiser to my face and told me to look in the mirror to see the difference, It was like magic! I could not believe that the years of redness had disappeared in seconds! The only way I knew how to make it disappear was with makeup! It felt so liberating to know that I do not always have to wear makeup to cover this up. There was no need to cover anything up because all it needed was moisture, desperately!
Since that day, a week ago, no morning or night has gone by without following my moisturising routine. And I feel so confident now! Now that I have this down. The next step I am excited to incorporate into my routine is Serum!
So, if I can leave you with anything from this experience, it would be:
Know your skin and its unique needs to feed it with the best ingredients, From moisturisers to makeup. We all try our best to provide our bodies with the best ingredients, so why not do the same with our skin, in this case, our face?
INVEST in your skin. Try to get the best products out there. Remember that does not always mean the best is always the most expensive.
Get into the habit of a skin routine sooner than later!
